Being fearful or afraid is an awful feeling and a massive waste of time. We all have something that makes us feel unsafe. For me personally, it’s the fear of the unknown or not being in control of what’s happening. I literally create scenarios in my head and freak myself out to the point of exhaustion. It’s just that thing for me. Other people have completely different weak points..whatever it may be, it’s time to take back power and the strength of your mind. This is probably one of the most difficult things to do but one of the most important and beneficial for a healthy mind and life.
One thing that always sticks with me is what my mum told me when I was younger: Look at ‘Fear’ as False Evidence Appearing Real. Things can only scare you if you let them.
Being younger, I didn’t really take in the advice and I told myself that it’s not always the case, because sometimes there are truth in things that make you afraid. But looking at it now I actually understand.
We usually fear something because of the consequence, the unknown or the danger. We all feel it sometimes- it’s human nature. If you’re afraid of heights, it’s usually because you’re afraid of the consequence of falling. If somebody is standing in front of you with a gun, you’re afraid that they are going to shoot you and so on. But the only reason that we are so afraid of the consequences is because we allow ourselves to be.
Imagine clearing your brain of any analytical thinking and being free of any worries. Imagine how much more enjoyable life would be. It is simple when you actually take a step back and look at it from a different perspective.
We create our fears. Whatever we want to believe and tell ourselves, determines how we live our life. Fear is not real. We create it in our minds and you can learn to remove it.
